Unity Among Us (Part 3)

The second attribute of the Trinity to consider is that they graciously served one another. One example that comes to mind is the story of Jesus’ temptation in the desert as recorded in Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13 and Luke 4: 1-13. Matthew states, “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.” At first glance it doesn’t seem like Jesus was “graciously served” (except maybe to the lion’s den), does it? But if we read further in scripture we would see that this incident occurred just before Jesus’ public ministry. I believe the Holy Spirit was preparing Christ, strengthening Him to be ready for the great challenges leading up to his death on the cross. So, the Spirit served Jesus and Jesus reciprocated by obeying the Holy Spirit’s leading. - JSS
