Romans 5:15-17 NIV
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
Adam’s sin and Christ’s restitution are not equal. Christ’s redemption is much greater. And it states later in Chapter 5:20, “But where sin increased grace increased all the more.” So when we sin we should come to the Father with incredible hope that His grace will fully cover any trespass(es) we have done. It’s almost like God’s telling us, “Come to me, come and let me convince you how much more I’m concerned with restoring you. I want to show you that although your sin has torn some of the fabric of our relationship, my limitless love and grace can easily mend it. In fact, I will make it even stronger in that area. I will reinforce those areas where you are weak. I will help you to overcome your transgressions because I’ll pour all that I have into you through the Holy Spirit. I care more about who you are in my son and where you’re going than what you’ve done. ‘I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.’ So, come and live in my abundant love, mercy and grace! Live on in hope in the redemption of Christ! - JSS
