Now we move on to the Lord’s Prayer. First, let’s look at the title itself; “The Lord’s Prayer”. The name is appropriate because it was instituted by Jesus Christ, our Lord. Therefore, it was not a common prayer. The same is true today. It does not stand alongside the seemingly thousands of prayers that have been passed down through the years. It stands alone. It comes directly from God through His Son. It is a divine prayer of the highest caliber. There is no equal!
So, we must make a paradigm shift in our minds when we think of and recite this prayer. It comes from the sacred throne of God, through the strongest form of relationship to Him (Jesus Christ) and emphasizes the most important elements needed when we go before Him. Therefore, it must receive our greatest attention, reverence and respect. I believe that if we do these things, God will honor and respond to what we ask. If, however, we enter in with complacent recitation or vain repetition, the Holy Spirit will be absent and God will not hear us. - JSS
